It is good that one always have the latest stable version of Ubuntu. The kernel is always updated to the latest version as in this morning. My 10.04 Lucid Lynx on a 64 bit Turion updated Firefox automatically today at around 4:00 AM to version 3.6.7, a bug-fix release! There were no cosmetic changes in the user interface but everyone is encouraged to upgrade since there were 14 security vulnerabilities discovered in the earlier version and fixed in the new version. See previous post. When I opened System/Administration/Synaptic Package Manager, I notice that nvidia-current and nvidia-settings may have been uninstalled by updqate process. So I installed them again and opened System/Administration/Nvidia Xserver settings and set up a new X server config file. When I rebooted the machine the system was now in 1280 x 800 high [...]

Today the kernel has been updated by Ubuntu automated updates. Of course the user still has to click approval of the update process.
