Scientist crack genetic code of cancer, what does it mean?
From the development of a vaccine for cancer of the cervix, (unfortunately not implemented in the Philippines), scientists in related fields of medicine such as geneticists or molecular biologists have cracked the entire genetic code of cancer specifically of the skin and lung cancers. Other researchers are racing to decode the complete genetic code of other type of cancers
The UK is looking at breast cancer, Japan at liver and India at mouth, China at stomach cancer and the US is studying brain, ovary and pancreas. See BBC
Now scientists and giant pharmaceutal companies are racing to design specific drugs to target wayward genes in cancer.
Now what does it all mean? Erm, we can answer the easier question. What does not it all mean?
It does NOT mean that you can smoke all you want, eat all the processed meat you crave, eat all the hamburgers you want,
or sit in the sofa and watch all the tv shows all days and get obese, or engage in dangerous, deviant sexual practices.
The best type of people who can take advantage of these wonderful advances in medicine are the ones who are the non-smokers, those who are active physically and conscious of their health.
